The Salt Lake Redevelopment Agency in partnership with the Main Street America initiative was looking to invest in a dilapidated part of the city to encourage new business and city investment. The area that they chose was The Granary District of SLC. I was hired to redesign their logo and create a brand that characterized the industrial and artistic vibe of the area.

As a worker in that area, it was a pleasure to help put my mark on our part of town that is definitely in need of an identity shift. Our area is located near the tracks where many factories and manufacturing plants have existed for 100 years or more. Those factories are slowly being turned into a vibrant epicenter for breweries, the arts, boutiques, architecture, and mom and pop shops that give it a distinct essence that’s different than other corners of the city.

With that in mind, I wanted to create a logo that would unite our history with our present. The result is something that I’m very proud of. Nothing like uniting a community for positive change.
